{"id":7836,"date":"2014-09-22T13:08:41","date_gmt":"2014-09-22T05:08:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lkcc.com.au\/cms\/?p=7836"},"modified":"2023-06-20T14:39:17","modified_gmt":"2023-06-20T06:39:17","slug":"my-scottish-golf-adventure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test07.miclub.com.au\/cms\/2014\/09\/22\/my-scottish-golf-adventure\/","title":{"rendered":"My Scottish Golf Adventure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the great benefits of being a member at Lake Karrinyup is the great network of Reciprocal Clubs throughout the world that members can visit.<\/p>\n<p>This past July my husband and I travelled to Scotland, and while my husband was on an MBA course I took the opportunity to play a couple of these reciprocal courses. Prior to leaving Perth, Robyn Twentyman, kindly coordinated my visits with Blairgowrie and Royal Dornoch, which was much appreciated.<\/p>\n<p>My first visit was to Blairgowrie where the Ladies\u2019 Captain, Margaret Hunter, warmly welcomed me. It was their Tuesday \u201cturn up and play\u201d day which is a social day where they run a small competition. We played the Rosemount course, where the Junior Ryder Cup will be played this September. Blairgowrie is a lovely Club and the members are very welcoming, they even went to the trouble of getting The Lake Karrinyup Salver out for me to see!<\/p>\n<address><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lkcc.com.au\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Joanne1.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"168\" \/> \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/address>\n<address><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">Margaret &amp; Miriam, my playing partners at Blairgowrie\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/address>\n<address><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lkcc.com.au\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/joanne_2.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" \/><\/address>\n<address><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">Royal Dornoch Golf Club\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <br \/><\/span><\/address>\n<address>\u00a0<\/address>\n<address>\u00a0Later that week we headed up past Inverness to the small town of Dornoch, home to the Royal Dornoch Golf Club. We had an early tee time that day and played with one of their members, Peter (a parish minister from Inverness) and his beautiful dog Smudge, who apparently is a frequent visitor to the course! While dining we noticed that there was a group teeing off the 18<sup>th<\/sup> and following them was a gallery of about 50 people. We asked our waitress what was going on and she replied there was some professional playing and she believed his name was \u201cJohn Nicholson\u201d. We were quite puzzled, as we had never heard of this professional, however, low and behold who did we see coming up the 18<sup>th,<\/sup> none other than the Golden Bear himself, Jack Nicklaus! Apparently he was in the area and decided to drop in for a round!<\/p>\n<p>Needless to say this topped off our trip to Dornoch.
