On Friday 13 June, Cottesloe hosted teams of 20 players from Mt Lawley, Royal Perth and Lake Karrinyup clubs for the 15th running of the Four Club Challenge that commenced in 2011.<\/p>\n

The Four Club Challenge Trophy is awarded to the best 12 collective scores from each team and Cottesloe delivered a convincing home club performance of 423 points (average of 35.25 points) to win from Lake Karrinyup 408, Mount Lawley 401 and Royal Perth 390.<\/p>\n

Eleven of the now fifteen\u00a0events have been won by the hosting club, and this year was no different. Cottesloe put aside any Friday 13th fears and landed a win in 2025.<\/p>\n

Royal Perth lead the all-time winners list with 5 wins, Lake Karrinyup 4 and Cottesloe joining Mount Lawley on 3 wins.<\/p>\n

A great day of connection and camaraderie and sharing of ideas was enjoyed by all, with teams made up of staff, office bearers, board and committee members and contributory members with the particular welcome of a fully diversified field of women and men to the 2025 challenge.<\/p>\n

The field enjoyed a beautiful welcome luncheon before the afternoon golf and Cottesloe Men\u2019s Captain Graeme Finlayson welcomed all along and noted the history of the event:<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/div>\n

\u201cThis event was created back in 2011, born from the friendship that developed between the club captains of the time \u2014 Bill Reid from Mount Lawley, Jim Crockett from Lake Karrinyup, Brendon Kay from Royal Perth, and our own Murray Williams here at Cottesloe.<\/em><\/p>\n

A special welcome and thank you to Jim and Murray, who are here today and Bill and Brendon who are away \u2014we appreciate your vision in establishing such an initiative.<\/em><\/p>\n

The annual event now in its 15th year brings together teams of twenty, comprising club office bearers, administrators and staff from each of the four clubs. The aim has always been to foster relationships between our clubs, give office bearers, CEOs, and staff a chance to connect \u2014 over a game of golf, \u2014 and to share ideas, experiences, and good humour<\/em><\/p>\n

We, at Cottesloe, are embracing that original concept here today. We also recognise our club structures and fabric is changing with the welcoming of women in leadership positions and to the Four Club challenge. We hope you all will acknowledge the original intent of the founders and join us in playing with your counterparts from the other clubs here today and carry the concept into the future.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\nAfter the shotgun start 18-hole stableford event with each group having one from each club, all returned for more fellowship and the announcement of the 2025 winners. <\/p>\n

A bit of fun was introduced with the fourth-placed Royal Perth being awarded the \u201cGallop-on\u201d award of a wooden horse\/donkey. Given our record some years, that might come back to haunt Cottesloe if \u2018presented\u2019 each year, but done and accepted in the spirit of camaraderie of the event.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Cottesloe\u2019s best Brooke Arnold with 41 led all starters, Grant Lewis also under notice a par round for 38 points and Captain Finno a commendable 37 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
