(Plegadis falcinellus)<\/em><\/p>\n

All three of the Ibises found in Australia may be seen around the lake. The Glossy Ibis is the smallest and the least frequently seen. It was not on our original bird list, but has been seen on a couple of occasions in the swamp, in flocks of a dozen or so. Perhaps after the good late rains this year we shall see it again, for it is a migratory nomadic creature.<\/p>\n

In its non-breeding plumage, which is what we may see here, it is uniformly dark brown and can sometimes be confused with the Little Black Cormorant or a Curlew. It has a wide distribution throughout the world. In Western Australia it is commoner in the north but visits the south when conditions are suitable.<\/p>\n
