Dear Members,
Following my advice of 27th February that the General Committee had approved Phase 2 of the Reticulation Replacement Project (RRP) – being the installation of a new irrigation network across both courses and surrounding areas – I am pleased to advise the preliminary works have now commenced.
The first deliveries of pipes and sprinklers arrived this week in preparation for the commencement of ground works in the week following Easter.
This project is essential to securing the Club’s long-term sustainability, improving course conditions, and reducing groundwater usage in line with anticipated reductions in licence allocations. The new system will provide more reliable and precise irrigation, enhancing turf quality and overall course presentation.
The total project cost is approximately $7.5 million. Of this, $5.0 million will be funded through existing Club resources, with the remaining $2.5 million to be addressed through a forthcoming funding plan. Importantly, contracts have been secured on a fixed-price base to minimise cost risk.
Phase 2 works will be delivered in two stages:
- Main Course: April – November 2026
- Driving Range, surrounds and North Course: May – September 2027
Golf will continue during construction, with no more than 3 holes closed at any time, allowing competitions to proceed largely as normal.
This is a significant investment in the Club’s future, and we appreciate Members’ patience and support throughout the works. Regular updates will be provided as the project progresses.
