Dear Members,
We would like to advise on the upcoming golf course impacts that will occur due to the reticulation replacement program this year.
Work will formally commence on Monday April 6 at the Pump Station, this work will have no impact on the golf course layout.
As at Monday April 20, the first hole will play from a temporary tee, as a very short par 4, allowing contractors to begin mainline works. The temporary tee will be in place for one week and during the period, eagles and hole-in-ones will not be recognised.
The following week will see the first hole closed completely and the Club utilising a 17-hole layout. In this scenario and moving forward into the project, Members will be required to follow clearly defined ‘checkpoints’ from the right-hand side of the ninth green to the second tee box. Checkpoints will be accompanied by signage directing traffic to the following tee box.
As the project continues, new routes will be developed to ensure golfers can commute around the course in a safe manner.
From a work health and safety standpoint, these designated paths must be adhered to, as holes currently out of play are considered a potentially hazardous worksite.
Members affected by their ball coming to rest, or their stance being impeded by a worksite, or recently laid turf, will receive free relief at their nearest point, no nearer the hole under rule 16.1 – Abnormal course conditions.
Please note: under no circumstance are golf balls to be retrieved from any cordoned off area on course regardless of the time of day. Members who are found to be not following these strict guidelines may face disciplinary actions.
Course hole closures will be dynamic and ever-changing – our communication will reflect the level of urgency on course.
In the event of shotgun starts, Members will be directed out onto the course to ensure golfers remain on the allocated paths and out of harm’s way.
During the reticulation replacement program, the course will range anywhere between 17 holes to 15 holes, however, the golf course slope and scratch ratings will remain unchanged.
When up to two holes are out of play, the Club will use the predicted score function, made available to us from MiClub, which creates a level playing field for all.
When three holes are out of action, each golfer will receive a total of five points for their remaining three holes. This aligns with average score data collated by Golf Australia in recent years.
Golfers will be prompted via the MiScore app as to how to complete their scorecard on holes that are not in play.
Communication will be circulated to Members on a weekly basis, and advised of relevant changes to the routing of the course. These changes will be communicated on Thursdays and implemented by Fraser, Nigel and their teams by Monday.
Thank you for your cooperation, we appreciate your understanding in advance.
Should you have any concerns or questions relating to the course during this time, please do not hesitate to contact the golf operations team.
Kind regards,
Mitchell Sheather
Head of Golf
