The second round of the 2016 Lake Cup was contested on Sunday 9th October with many players looking to improve on their first round score and to try in order to work their way up their respective grades leaderboard. As the day progressed a welcome change in weather was enjoyed by all and a number of very solid rounds posted which saw the leader board chop and change constantly.
Coming in the very last group of the day and snatching the title was Rob Baker. Rob played some solid golf throughout the afternoon to post a second round of nett 70, this round along with his opening round of 71 was enough to claim the 2016 Lake Cup on a countback from the also very consistent Runner Up Gordon Gow and Michael Dandridge on 141.
The top 8 qualifying positions for the 2016 Club Championships were up for grabs and there were a host of players who were in the frame. This year’s cut off for the Club championships came in at a very impressive 150. The top 16 players contesting the championship & championship plate are as below:

Pennant player Simon Liddell followed up his first round score of 73 with another 73 on Sunday which saw him take out the honour of number 1 qualifier on a countback from Nick Vogel also on 146. Nigel Goodall also played fantastic over the 2 days with gross scores of 72 & 78 to not only take out the Senior Championship ( Gross) but make his way into the Top 8 qualifiers which will see him fight for the club championship. Michael Dandridge who just got edged out for the title on a countback was the winner of the Nett Senior Championship.
In the Junior Championship, young up and comer Shailesh Vasandani posted very solid rounds of 79 and 80 which was enough to be crowned Junior Champion for 2016.
