A total of 255 male members took part in the Karrinyup Cup on Saturday 6th August with an additional 29 members playing on the North Course. This annual event is followed by the Club Dinner, a traditional black tie evening that commences with pre-dinner drinks in the main bar. 209 members were booked in for the dinner and were lead from the main bar through to the dining room in the traditional Karrinyup manner – piped through by a Piper. A full house was welcomed by the Vice-President Con Barron, opening the dinner by saying Grace. The loyal toast was proposed by Vice-Captain Ralph Gibson after which time the Division 2 Pennant was presented to the Club by Team Captain Nick Curnow.
Captain David Anderson acknowledged previous Karrinyup Cup winners present along with past-President’s present at the dinner. He proceeded to announce the 2016 winners.
Graeme Pepper was the overall main course winner on a countback with 68 and Brad Reeves was the delighted winner of the North Course Trophy.
President John Hanly welcomed 50 year member (and past President) Mr Albert Tognolini and presented him with his 50 year tie. Other 50 year members unable to be at the dinner were also recognised – Mr Gus Wainwright and Mr Richard Baird.
A wonderful 3 course dinner was enjoyed by all of these present and the whisky bar did a roaring trade. A great evening full of camaraderie and tradition was had by all.
