The Ladies held a very successful Charity Day at the Club today. 190 ladies and visitors played golf on the main course and short course and 90 ladies played Bridge. What started as a dreary day turned into a sunny pleasant morning for the golfers which is a turnaround on the previous few years. The winners of the day on the Main Course were Chris May and Karan Barnes from The Links with 41 points and Short Course winners were Janet Williams and Marg Ireland (both LKCC) on a 3 way countback with 36 points.
The stalls were stocked full of delicious cakes, slices, chutneys, jams, pickles, golf paraphenalia, handcrafts, knitted scarves and clothing, lucky dip, plants and even a “sock ” stall. Thanks to all those who made or donated goods for the stalls and to the smiling helpers behind the stallls. The amount of money raised will be quite amazing as in other years and the final figure raised will be announced shortly.
In the meantime a big thank you to the male Members who assisted with car parking and betting on the holes – they are always a welcome sight with their smiles & willingness on Charity Day. Of course the Ladies who have been working tirelessly leading up to and during Charity Day are to be thanked including the flower ladies, along with Chef Richard and House Manager Sophie and their team of merry helpers. Trevor, Jarrod and their team did a great job on the course – thank you. Thanks to the Ladies Golf Administrator Aimee for her efforts leading up to and during the day and Vicki Gill – the money counter for the day. And of course, last but certainly not least, Lieske Rijks for her HUGE effort in co-ordinating this year’s Charity Day. It’s impossible to thank everyone individually but you know who you are – THANK YOU.
